Characterization of CYP2C19*17 Polymorphism in a Portuguese Population Sample Relevant for Proton Pump Inhibitor Therapy—A Pilot Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

The interindividual variability of Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) therapy results from the phenotype associated with cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) gene, namely CYP2C19*17 allele. Our aim was to characterize patients’ genetic undergoing PPI therapy. A sample 33 oral mucosa cells Portuguese pharmacy patients collected, followed by genotyping. allelic frequencies CYP2C19*1 (-806C) and (-806T) were 71.2% 28.8%, respectively. genotypic for CYP2C19*1/*1 CYP2C19*1/*17 42.4% 57.6%, respectively, 19 these may have a Rapid Metabolizer (RM) pharmaceutical opinion letter, based on evidence.

Short-term proton pump inhibitor treatment may cause hypomagnesaemia in critically ill patients - a pilot study.

Many studies have suggested a link between long-term PPI treatment and hypomagnesaemia, though none of them investigated the short-term exposure in high-risk patients. We sought to investigate this issue in 90 critically ill patients. We assessed serum Mg concentrations, necessity of Mg supplementation, PPI dose, duration of PPI therapy and route of administration. In multiple analysis we found...

Pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, increases orthodontic tooth movement in rats

Objective(s):Pantoprazole, is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) prescribed for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal disorders, which in high doses has been suggested to decrease calcium absorption leading to hypocalcaemia and therefore osteoporosis. The aim of this study was to assess whether pantoprazol, could alter the rate of orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) in rats. Materials and Methods: A ...

Impact of Long-Term Proton Pump Inhibitor Therapy on Gut Microbiota in F344 Rats: Pilot Study

Background/Aims To evaluate changes in gut microbiota composition following long-term proton pump inhibitor (PPI) treatment. Methods Twenty-four-week-old F344 rats were fed diets with (n=6) or without (n=5) lansoprazole for 50 weeks. Profiles of luminal microbiota in the terminal ileum were then analyzed. Pyrosequencing of the 16S rRNA gene was performed using an FLX genome sequencer (454 Lif...

Proton - pump inhibitor - responsive esophageal

Recent findings Several prospective series have reported consistent rates of PPI-REE (30–40%) in adults with suspected EoE. At baseline, PPI-REE and EoE have been shown to be indistinguishable upon clinical, endoscopic, and molecular characteristics [eotaxin-3, interleukin (IL-5), and IL-13 expression]. PPI therapy partially restores esophageal mucosal integrity in PPI-REE, but not in EoE. Anti...
